Guatemala and lake Atitlan
Since I entered Guatemala everything has been perfect. Every night I have stayed inside out of the rain, every person I have met has fed me and tried their best to help me in any way they could. The roads are better than the roads in the States. I can't even believe the mountains here, I didn't know what to expect from Guatemala but it's aparent now - I am in what I had pictured as ideal.
The food here is the best, also. After only 4 days of being healthy I started playing roulette with the street-vendor food. The portions are huge, foods great - much better than Mexican food, and they dont make it a point to put lime and chilies on everything. I am just a few days from El Salvador and am enjoying every second of Lake Atitlan. Lake Atitlan is a high alpine lake surrounded by pine trees and two immence valcanos. And the pine trees remind me of home (Wisconsin).
Photos as soon as I get to a computer that is fast enough.
Hope all is well

Hi Quinn,
Great descriptions of Guatemala and Lake Atitlan. They sound like wonderful places to visit. Wow, you've accomplished so much!!! We're very proud of you. You truly illustrate the phrase "It's not the destination, it's the journey." Peace and love from your friends in Plover!

Sounds too cool, are the volcanos active. The ones in Costa Rica are. The veiws at night are spectacular.
If you catch any fish there watch out for the chompers.Always use the forcepts for hook removal.

Quinn, do you have the mileage for 9/11? If you were sick that day, we could use another day.

Quinn, man we are so proud of you, we met you in late July and rode with you for a few minutes anyway on the Oregon coast. Our vac ride was small and pidly compared to this effort you are doing. You are the real deal dude! We always look forward to your journal posts and pictures. God bless you and have a great 2nd half in South America!

Quinn!!
You can't imagine the smile on my face while I was reading all your comments and watching all your pictures! :)
I remember the Chocolate Factory when you were planning all your trip and you were so excited with it, and of course, also when you sent for the first time the link for this page and the trip wasn't started yet... now you have done all North America and you are already in Guatemala! It's amazying!
I'm glad to know that you are enjoying every part of your trip... there's always something new and special to learn about new places and of course from new people.
Keep going Quinn and good luck!!!
See you soon, here in Peru! :)
Love,
Janine

Hi Quinn,
glad you are enjoying your scenery! I can't wait to see the photos.... It does my heart good to know that there are GREAT people everywhere. What an ambassador you are for us!
Perhaps armies of bikers could travel the world to let others know we really aren't all that bad " as far as people go".
I think about what type of escapades you are having everyday and wishing I could be a bug on your bike!
take care
Pam
