Panama Vacation

I am currently in Panama waiting for a german guy i will ride with through Columbia. I will be taking a boat around the Darein gap which takes around 5 days. I have had alot of rest time for my ankle and have been having a great time in costa rica and panama. Before i left Costa I met up with some randoms, Scooter and Annie and climbed chorippo the highest point in the country. At 12,800 feet I spent the night wet and cold trying hard to keep myself warm with a ligher.
I have no photos till I get a new camera in Panama City.
hope all is well with everyone back home.

Costa Rica

Today was the 1st day back on my bike in almost 2 weeks. In that time I have spent alot of time with my foot in the air. In excitement for being back on the bike I cycled half of Costa Rica in one day, 145 miles. My ankle held up for the better part of the day but then swelled and ached after I stopped.
I was lucky enough to meet up with some freinds in Tamarindo, CR. For nearly two weeks I acted like I was on vacation, spending alot of time relaxing on the beach and reading and a little rum.
When I woke up this morning I had to say goodbye to some freinds flying back to the states. It was very hard for me to watch them leave me. A part of me wanted to catch the plane with them and continue at home where I left off. But the excitement to get back to my bike was overpowering.
I cant stress enough how much it meant to me that I was able to spent time with really good people. Kelly, Missy, Michelle, Molly, thanks for putting up with my cripple self on your vacation. And I would also like to thank Stephanie and justin Haring in San Juan Del Sur for being so helpfull. I Spent a few days on their couch with my foot in the air.

Nicaragua

On the island of Ometepe I wrenched my ankle bad enough that I can't walk for more than a mile without it swelling to cankle propotions. The funny part about my ankle being messed up is that I can't walk very well but I can ride bike with relatively little pain.
So here is the story of my ankle: I climbed a volcano on the island a couple days ago and on the way down I rolled my ankle hard enough that I thought I had broken it. I was making plans to come home in my head. After failed attempts at splinting it with a vine and two sticks I hopped for 4 hours through the jungle and down the volcano. It wasn't until the next day when I found out that walking was not an option ... but biking was.
I have been resting my leg here and waiting for a shipment of gear. Unfortunatly, I just found out that I might never see this box because Nica customs holds on to shipments for around a month after recieving it.
